Hordaland

Hordaland county has a population of 445,059 with two thirds of the residents living in the capital city of Bergen. Bergen has a population of 237,430 and is Norway's second largest city. Hordaland is a part of Vestlandet(The Western Land), noted for the deep fjords and mountainous terrain.

The long Hardanger fjord in the south and the numerous scenic islands along the coast are the main landscape features of the county. The county name means Land of the Hordar, a tribe with possible Celtic origins.
