Møre & Romsdal

Møre & Romsdal county has a population of 244,570 and is situated on the northern part of Vestlandet, The Western Land.

Ølesund is the largest city, with a population of 40,000, although Molde is the capital. As you can see on the map, fjords and islands dominate the landscape.

The name Møre probably comes from the old word for the sea and Romsdal is the name of the valley where the river Rauma flows to the sea.
